Pay for Fail is an online accountability platform available at payforfail.com.

The Service is operated by a sole trader based in Ireland using the trading name "Pay for Fail".

The operator acts as the data controller for personal data processed through the Service.

2. Personal Data We Collect

Account Data
Email address, display name, and authentication method.

Commitment Data
Commitment titles, descriptions, deadlines, stake amounts, and completion status.

Payment Data
Subscription status and payment processor identifiers. Payment card information is processed directly by Stripe and is not stored by the Service.

Usage Data
Statistics such as completion rates, streak counts, and activity analytics generated from user commitments.

Technical Data
IP address, browser type, device information, and session identifiers.

Notification Preferences
User reminder settings and communication preferences.

5. Third-Party Processors

We use trusted service providers including:

  • Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. – payment processing
  • Google Firebase (Google LLC) – authentication and database hosting

Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area using Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

6. Data Retention

Account data is retained while the account remains active.

Transaction records may be retained for up to six years for financial compliance purposes.

Technical logs are retained only as long as necessary for security monitoring.

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, users have the right to:

  • request correction of inaccurate data
  • request deletion of personal data
  • restrict or object to processing
  • request data portability
  • withdraw consent for marketing communications

The Service automatically determines whether commitment deadlines have passed without completion. If so, a pledged stake may be charged according to the Terms of Service.
